.DISCUSSION... Issued at 122 PM CDT Fri Sep 5 2025
Light rain continues south of I-70 this afternoon. Generally, only a few hundredths to a tenth of an inch is expected. After the rain moves out, surface high pressure builds in. Light wind and clear sky will allow temperatures to fall quickly into the 40s overnight. Fog may develop with dewpoint depressions near zero. Manhattan and areas to the west and south are most favored to see some fog. A slow but steady warm-up is forecast into next week with highs eventually rising back to near 90 by Wednesday. The next chance of rain arrives Monday into Tuesday as northwest flow aloft brings a weak mid-level wave overhead and southerly surface wind brings additional moisture back into the region. Models differ on the evolution of the weather pattern for the later half of the week with varying ideas on how amplified and far east an upper-level ridge builds in. There may be several more low chances for rain through next week depending on where the ridge sets up.

.AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z SUNDAY/... Issued at 1233 AM CDT Sat Sep 6 2025
Clouds have cleared to the south of terminals with very light to calm winds. This setup lends more confidence to the development of fog for a few hours around sunrise, though it should be shallow and patchy as there is some more wind a few hundred feet AGL. Have kept the tempo group with IFR to MVFR vis to account for this; otherwise VFR is anticipated.
