.SHORT TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY/... Issued at 237 PM EDT Tue Sep 16 2025
Surface high pressure remains in place over the region, supporting warm and dry weather this evening into Wednesday. Skies will be mostly clear with perhaps some high-level clouds drifting overhead late. Tonight will be calm and clear for most areas. With light winds and radiational cooling, patchy fog is likely to develop across northeast Lower, especailly along the Lake Huron shoreline, and eastern Upper. Fog should begin to slowly burn off after sunrise as mixing increases Wednesday. Lows tonight will range in the upper 40s to mid 50s with the coolest locations across northern Lower, especially inland areas.
Wednesday continues the warm, dry pattern under the ridge, with high pressure still dominate. Expect another warm day with highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s with RH values dropping to the upper 30s once again. Regardless of expected light winds, ongoing rain-free weather and drying fuels are a growing concern for fire danger.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/... Issued at 237 PM EDT Tue Sep 16 2025
The ridge weakens late Wednesday night into Thursday as a front approaches the region. This front will bring increasing clouds and higher moisture. Guidance is hinting at chances for drizzle or light rain showers north of where the front settles Thursday morning. However, rain chances look minimal with weak forcing, so many locations may just see cloudier skies. Following that, high pressure rebuilds late in the week into the early weekend, bringing mostly dry condtions. Afternoon temperatures will decrease through the work week into the weekend with an increasing trend expected early next week. Next best chance for precipitation looks to be late this weekend into early next week... Stay tuned.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z WEDNESDAY/... Issued at 707 PM EDT Tue Sep 16 2025
Again, looking at potential for more MVFR to IFR producing fog/mist to develop later tonight...with the best odds for this occurring at KAPN, KCIU, and KPLN. Any fog/mist will quickly mix out after sunrise Wednesday, leaving behind VFR conditions under mostly sunny skies. Light winds with local lake breeze development Wednesday afternoon.
