.DISCUSSION... Issued at 130 PM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025

The main weather theme over the next week will be dry conditions with above normal temperatures. Visible satellite shows a few clouds over the state with surface high pressure centered over Nebraska sliding southward. Patchy to isolated fog may develop tonight with a focus over eastern into southern Iowa where the winds will be lightest. Friday through early next week the positively-tilted trough stretched from the eastern Great Lakes to the southern Plains splits off a closed low over the Southeast US on Friday. This will set up a slow pattern as an omega block takes shape with the low over the Southeast US, which may evolve with AL94 early next week, a closed low moving over California to the Four Corners region, and a ridge in between over the central US. A shortwave trough moving over the Canadian prairies will send a moisture starved cold front into the state around Saturday, but with little if any change in the sensible weather. By the middle of next week, the ridge top will start to lean eastward allowing for more southwesterly flow by later into next week. This may open up opportunities for an increase in moisture and the chance of precipitation. Until then, dry weather with highs ranging from around 80 degrees to the middle 80s will occur on any given day.
