.DISCUSSION... Issued at 342 AM CDT Sun Sep 21 2025
Areas of fog have developed early this morning mainly from the James River Valley (mostly along and north of I94) into the Turtle Mountains. A few obs are reporting dense fog, though overall, dense fog seems localized. For example, while the Jamestown airport has been reporting quarter mile visibility off and on, webcams along the interstate show fog that is patchy in nature and possibly shallow. Either way, will continue to monitor this morning for more widespread deterioration in visibility. Fog should dissipate by mid to late morning.
All in all, there really isn`t a whole lot to talk about for this week. Generally dry conditions are expected, while temperatures are forecast to be a bit above average overall with highs mostly in the 70s to low 80s. Going along those lines, highs this afternoon should be mostly in the 70s. However, western ND is forecast to reach the low 80s as it will be under the influence of a thermal ridge and southerly surface flow. For Monday, the pressure gradient will tighten in western ND from low pressure over southern Canada and high pressure over western Montana. This should produce breezy conditions for western parts of the state during the afternoon hours. Otherwise, expect mostly light winds through the week.

.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z MONDAY/... Issued at 558 AM CDT Sun Sep 21 2025
Areas of fog, along with patchy dense fog, are present in north central ND. KJMS has also been reporting 1/4 to 1SM of fog most of the night. However, webcams a couple miles south of the terminal on I94 have only shown limited patchy fog that appears mostly shallow in nature. With a lack of ground truth at the terminal, been using BCFG to address this discrepancy in the TAFs. Once any fog clears out later this morning, and barring fog development again tonight (it`s possible, but signals aren`t the strongest), VFR ceilings and visibility are expected through the remainder of the period.
