.DISCUSSION... Issued at 1246 PM CDT Fri Sep 26 2025
Through early week: An upper trough/cut off low currently over the TN Valley will shift eastward over the Lower Appalachians then linger into early next week. Meanwhile, surface ridging centered west and northwest of us will maintain persistent northerly flow into the region. While the source airmass will not provide substantial cooling, it will maintain a steady supply of relatively drier air, providing for cooler mornings but increasingly warm afternoons. After potential for isolated showers with the closer proximity of the upper low this afternoon, rain chances will be almost nil this weekend into the beginning of next week.
Mid to late next week: By the middle of next week, it appears increasingly likely that a tropical low somewhere off the southeastern coast in the Atlantic will begin to interact with the aforementioned upper low. The track of this system remains uncertain, and while it is not expected to result in hazardous impacts in our immediate area, we may see increasing chances for showers toward the end of next week as one or more lobes of deeper moisture shift over the area. Meanwhile, with the increasing moisture and easterly flow influence, temperatures are expected to return closer to normal. /DL/
