.SHORT TERM... (Today through Wednesday afternoon) Issued at 219 AM CDT Tue Sep 30 2025

An upper-level trough will move eastward across Oklahoma and into eastern portions of Texas today while upper-level ridging builds across southeast New Mexico and west Texas behind this departing feature. The upper-level ridge will continue to strengthen over our forecast area through Wednesday afternoon. Surface lee troughing will also take shape from eastern New Mexico into far west Texas through Wednesday. This pattern will favor a warming trend and a return to dry weather conditions across all of our forecast area through Wednesday. Highs today are forecast to range in the 80s across most of the area (except mid to upper 70s in the mountains and in the 90s along the Rio Grande). Lows tonight will average near to slightly above normal in the mid 50s to mid 60s. Temperatures will continue to trend warmer in the mid 80s to lower 90s over most of our region by Wednesday afternoon, with a few readings topping out in the mid 90s to near 100 degrees along the Rio Grande.

&&

.LONG TERM... (Wednesday night through Monday) Issued at 219 AM CDT Tue Sep 30 2025

The upper-level ridge will remain the dominant weather feature over our forecast area through Friday. The ridge will break down by Friday night as an upper-level trough digs across the western CONUS. This upper-level trough will generally remain positioned across much of the Intermountain West through the weekend and will generally leave our area within a relatively light westerly to southwesterly flow pattern aloft ahead of this system. Medium range guidance shows little in the way of meaningful moisture or ascent over our region through the extended period so a dry forecast with POPs near nil will continue into Monday. Temperatures look to average above normal through the extended period with highs each day mostly ranging in the upper 80s to lower 90s with morning lows mainly in the upper 50s to mid 60s.
