&&

.SHORT TERM... (Today and tonight) Issued at 234 AM CDT Mon Sep 8 2025

Upper level ridge will build over the Rockies and expand a bit more eastward into West Texas today. This will result in mainly dry and warmer weather for the area today. Cannot rule out a few showers or an isolated thunderstorm over far southwest counties this afternoon during peak heating, but coverage should be sparse. Otherwise, some low clouds will affect the area this morning primarily south of Interstate 20, but will scatter out by afternoon. Temperatures will be a little warmer today but still below normal, with afternoon highs in the mid and upper 80s, with a few readings topping 90 degrees across the Big Country. Mostly clear skies are expected tonight, with overnight lows in the 60s.

&&

.LONG TERM... (Tuesday through Sunday) Issued at 234 AM CDT Mon Sep 8 2025

Expect warmer and dry weather and an upper level ridge builds across the Southern Plains this week. Also, look for mostly sunny skies each afternoon which will make it feel even hotter. Highs will be in the upper 80s to 90s, slightly above normal for this time of year. Overnight lows will be in the 60s to lower 70s.

.AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1236 AM CDT Mon Sep 8 2025

Currently seeing clear skies across the area but stratus is expected to develop across the southern terminals towards daybreak. A combination of MVFR and IFR ceilings will be possible at most of the terminals except KABI. Could also see some reduction to visibilities as some fog is possible, with the best chance for this at KSOA where ground is saturated due to heavy rain that fell yesterday. Stratus is expected to lift/scatter out to VFR by afternoon, with skies clearing by sunset. A few showers may develop across the far southern terminals this afternoon but coverage should be sparse, so will not mention at this time.
