.SYNOPSIS... There will be weak offshore flow this morning with gusty easterly winds to 25 mph in the mountains. Moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Priscilla will spread into the southwest states on Thursday with chances for showers and thunderstorms for southwestern California for Thursday into Friday night. This will be followed be followed by cooling and drying into early next week with Monday high temperatures 5 to locally 10 degrees below average for inland areas.

.DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE... SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES...

.SHORT TERM (Today through Thursday)... High pressure to the southeast will bring warming of high temperatures for today for the coast and valleys of a few to around 5 degrees. Weak offshore flow will bring easterly winds with gusts to 25 mph for this morning for the mountains. Not much change in high temperatures is expected for Wednesday with high temperatures ranging from around 70 near the coast to the 80s for the Inland Empire with the lower to mid 90s for the lower deserts. On Thursday, a low pressure system off the West Coast will begin to draw moisture from the remnants Of Hurricane Priscilla into the southwest states. Chances for showers and thunderstorms will increase for Thursday into Thursday night.

.LONG TERM (Friday through Monday)... Tropical moisture is expected to peak on Friday with drying for the weekend. Chances for measurable rainfall are greatest for the San Diego County mountains at 55 to 65 percent with chances for one inch or more of rainfall of 10 to 20 percent for the mountains. There could still be some showers and thunderstorms near the mountains on Saturday afternoon depending on how quickly the drying occurs. There will be cooling for the weekend into early next week with Monday high temperatures for inland areas 5 to locally 10 degrees below average with high temperatures ranging from around 70 near the coast to the mid 70s to around 80 for the Inland Empire with the lower to mid 80s for the lower deserts.

.AVIATION... 070930Z....Coasts/Valleys...Low clouds will eventually gather and cover most coastal and some valleys through 14Z. Bases 1400-1800 feet MSL, tops to 2200 feet, and reduced vis 0-5SM inland valleys and hills. Clearing inland 15-17Z and near the coast 17-20Z, but with only partial or intermittent clearing vcnty KSAN and KCRQ. Low clouds with similar bases/tops/vis to redevelop and gradually spread inland after 03Z with similar coverage overnight into Wednesday.

Mountains/Deserts...Clear with unrestricted visibility today and tonight.

.MARINE... There is a slight chance of thunderstorms Thursday through Friday. Occasional northwest wind gusts exceeding 20 kts are expected Friday afternoon and evening around San Clemente Island. Otherwise, no hazardous marine conditions are expected through Saturday.
