.DISCUSSION... Issued at 1029 AM CDT Fri Sep 26 2025
A fairly stagnant weather pattern to persist through the forecast period ending next Thursday. Aloft, northerly flow to prevail through tonight, becoming northwest on Saturday, as an upper- ridge builds into Texas. The upper-ridge will hold areawide through the weekend. An upper-low across the Atlantic will migrate west across the Appalachians late in the weekend and linger through the end of the forecast period, reinforcing northerly flow areawide through much of next week. Thus, stable and dry conditions expected with skies remaining mostly clear each day. The only anomaly to the pattern will be the possibility of a period of overcast skies translating east across the region on Monday night into Tuesday with a weak 700 mb front.
At the surface, high pressure centered across Arkansas today to gradually lift northeast through the weekend with a ridge axis holding across the ArkLaTex through Tuesday. Two strong areas of low pressure across the southeast and into the Atlantic Ocean will provide enough northerly forcing on their westward flanks to drag a cool Canadian airmass south into the ArkLaTex by end of the period. Afternoon high temperatures will average in the 80s each day through the period while overnight lows will range from the 50s and 60s through Sunday climbing into the 60s by early to midweek. /05/
