.DISCUSSION... Issued at 1039 AM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025

A weak frontal boundary across the lower Mississippi River Valley combined with an upper-trough swinging east across the region could allow for widely scattered showers and thunderstorms across north Louisiana and south Arkansas this afternoon. Once the trough exits to the east, upper-level ridging will build across the Red River Valley into Oklahoma allowing for north to northwest flow across the ArkLaTex through the weekend. Subsidence associated with the ridge will allow for mostly clear skies areawide through much of the period. This pattern to persist through at least Tuesday. On Wednesday, the forecast becomes a bit more challenging and is dependent on a series of disturbances in the tropical Atlantic that will build west across the southeast CONUS. Instability associated with these disturbances could allow for increasing rain chances by midweek.

Much milder temperatures expected through the weekend as highs will average in the mid to upper 80s with lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Otherwise, could see slightly warmer overnight low temperatures in the low to mid 60s by midweek. /05/

.AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1227 PM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025

Mostly VFR conditions should continue through the 25/18Z TAF period. Low cu cigs have developed early this afternoon over SW AR and much of N LA, along an upper trough extending SW through the region from the Middle Great Lakes Region into the Mid MS Valley. The cu field should remain more scattered over E TX, and should diminish around/shortly after 00Z, although the cu should persist through the evening/overnight hours over much of SW AR/N LA. Isolated -SHRA can`t be ruled out this afternoon/early evening over portions of Srn AR/NCntrl LA, but low confidence precludes VCSH mention in the ELD/MLU terminals attm. The cu may lower overnight as the low level reflection of this trough sinks S through the Lower MS Valley, affecting ELD/MLU, before a scattered cu field redevelops by the end of the TAF period (late Friday morning) elsewhere across the region. NNW winds 5-8kts this afternoon will become Lt/Vrb after 00Z. /15/
