.SYNOPSIS... High pressure is expected through the entire week, which will bring a prolonged period of dry weather. Temperatures will be well above normal to start the week, but will return to slightly below normal by the middle of the week. There is potential for some frost in sheltered valleys Wednesday and Thursday nights.
&&
.NEAR TERM /THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/... 120 PM Update:
High pressure continues to bring warm and sunny conditions this afternoon. Then similar to last night, radiational cooling will be present tonight. This will result in low temperatures mainly in the 40s along with valley fog once again. Monday will be another warm day with high temperatures a few degrees cooler, but still in the upper 70s to near 80. Higher clouds streaming in from tropical activity across the Southeast U.S. will result in partly sunny skies, especially for Northeast PA. Farther to the north across most of Central NY, Monday will remain mostly sunny. These higher clouds will keep temperatures a bit warmer Monday night with lows in the upper 40s to mid 50s.
&&
.SHORT TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/... 120 PM Update:
One more day with above normal temperatures is expected on Tuesday (highs in the mid 70s to near 80), but a Canadian high pressure system moving southward will bring near to below normal temperatures beginning on Wednesday (highs in the mid 60s to near 70). Otherwise, dry weather is expected to continue for the entire period. Some frost is possible Wednesday night, especially in the sheltered valleys. With the growing season still active area-wide, it is possible that Frost Advisories may be needed as we get closer. A few of the usual colder spots (especially northern Oneida County) may have low temperatures Wednesday night approach freezing.
&&
.LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/... 120 PM Update:
The prolonged period of dry weather is expected to continue all the way through next weekend as high pressure will be in control. As this high pressure system moves to the east, a southerly return flow will develop, and as a result, a moderating trend in temperatures is expected by next weekend after a couple of days with below normal temperatures.
&&
.AVIATION /18Z SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/... VFR conditions expected for all terminals (with exception to ELM for fog) through the 18Z TAF period. Yet again, deep fog development is possible, with LIFR conditions currently expected, for ELM between 07Z and 13Z, and should burn off soon after 13Z, similarly to this morning.
Outlook...
Monday through Friday...Mainly VFR, other than typical valley fog formation especially KELM late each night through dawn each morning.
